Bourbon Beanie Weenies brings it all together with the best weiner complements: bacon, beans, maple...and a bit of bourbon for the adult palate.
Ingredients:
1 (28oz) can of Baked beans (about 3 cups homemade)
1 cup chopped onions
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
4 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
4 tablespoons butter
1/3 to 1/2 (depending on taste) cup bourbon
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 (about 3 or 4) package beef weiners, cut into slices
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon maple syrup (omit if using Maple Baked beans)
Cook onions and bell pepper in butter until tender. Add sausage and cook for 3 to 4 minutes over med./low heat. Stir in all remaining ingredients and continue to cook on low-to-medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes or until heated well.
Recipe makes 4 to 6 servings.
